Village clean up day
29/04/2010 by richard.pawson.
A big ‘Thank You’ to the nine volunteers who turned up on Saturday 17th April for the village clean-up day. Between us we picked up 26 sackfuls of discarded waste from the Binfield Heath road verges.
It’s just a pity that it is always the same faces that turn up - we need more volunteers. If you didn’t hear about it and would like to be personally notified next year, please send me an email: rpawson at nakedobjects dot org and I’ll let you know.
I know that some of you make a regular habit of taking a carrier bag with you on a walk and picking up a few items. Keep up the good work.

A big thank you to all who helped in the litter-pick
14/02/2009 by richard.pawson.
About a dozen volunteers turned up and we were able to clear the verges and ditches of most of the roads in the village (not all, sadly).
Hope to see more of you next time. For those who aren’t keen, may I recommend the Excuse-O-Mat
Incidentally, while clearing a bag of drinks cans (both empty and full) from the ditch on Emmer Green Road, a rather damp £10 note fell out. I shall dry it out and donate it to the Village Society. A modicum of justice in that, I feel. Perhaps we should adopt this as an incentive scheme to involve some of our children in the tidy-up.

Litter pick-up: scheduled for 14th February
31/01/2009 by admin.
If you’re willing to spend an hour helping to clear the roadsides of litter, please meet outside the Village Store at 10.00 am. Bags, high-visibility vests, and pick-up sticks will be provided, but please bring your own if you have them. Gloves and boots recommended.

2009 Litter pick-up day
17/01/2009 by richard.pawson.
I am hoping to organise the annual village litter-pick sometime in the next few weeks.
This involves a commitment of 1 hour on the chosen Saturday morning. Last year we collected more than 30 rubbish sacks full from the roadside throughout the village.
As usual, there is a core ‘cadre’ of faithful volunteers - but it would be great to see some new faces as well this year.
If you’re interested, you can respond to this post, or call me on 0118 947 1944 - and I’ll make sure you’re advised of the date.
Richard
